Here are details I sent in an email with subject "AGM and the last meetings of term"
That said, is anyone thinking of running for any position?
Hello all
This is a message to detail the final meetings of term, inluding our Annual General Meeting.
AGM - The Annual General Meeting
This will take place on Saturday 13th March in the Emerton Room of Van Mildert College's Conference Centre at 3pm.
For those who don't already know, the AGM is the meeting where our constitution is reviewed and possibly amended, and where the new executive members for the coming year are elected.
In order to vote, and of course stand, for a position you must be a member of the society so if you haven't paid for a membership you must before the AGM if you intend to participate.
The executive positions available in DUMAS (and their current holders) are:
- President (John Wilson)
- Secretary (Neil Robinson)
- Treasurer (Felix McBurney)
- Social Secretary (Laura Nessfield)
The positions of president, secretary and treasurer are essential to a DSU society which means they must be held by at least one person each - no one can take two or greater of these positions at once. One can however take one of these positions and social secretary which is a position internal to the society.
As of now I have had no indication of anyone wishing to stand for any of these positions, or for any of the current holders to stand to continue holding them. I myself express the wish to stand down after a year of presidency in order to devote more of my time to other societies and to my final year engineering project. That means that I'll still be here however, and I'll be very happy to assist my successor during the coming year.
Therefore I encourage everyone to consider standing for positions to lead the next generation of the anime society. My experience an executive, and president, has been so fulfilling and I would love to see a new president have that experience in my final year.
Last Meetings
Myself and Neil Robinson are going away to Manchester on Wednesday 17th which means there will be no meeting on that day. Meetings are as normal in the coming week, that is on the 10th and the 12th. I think I mentioned that it was on the 10th that there would be no meeting, that is not the case.
In spite of this, all the anime will be finished by Friday 19th, Spice and Wolf will be finished next Wednesday so that means the meeting on Friday 19th will show the last episodes of every series including Claymore at 2 episodes each. Each meeting is in its ordinary place: Old Library in Grey college on Fridays, Ustinov Room in Van Mildert on Wednesdays, 7pm.
If you have any questions about these arrangements, in particular if you are unsure what duties the executive positions of society entail, then ask either myself or Neil through email or in meetings.
John Wilson
President
