I have no information to add, so I'll go straight for opinion and say that of all the names anything with its origins in an anime series could have, Anima is pretty awkward. (It also shoves a Latin word next to a Greek one, which to me looks a bit jarring; I suppose Psyche would have had tricky additional connotations.)

More EVA? I know that the ending to the film was the "true" ending, so it could be a direct sequel (though having Rei in it then makes it a bit... odd) but still. Aren't they milking it a bit? How on earth are they going to make it intresting?

He was saying that milking the Evangelion thing isn't a new concept. It's been going on since time began, what with the legions of computer games, board games, misc. games, mangas, books, trading cards, bubblegum packets, figurines, remakes, scents (Fragrance of Asuka - it's real, I promise), costumes, pencil cases, phone cards, mouse mats, drinks (canned LCL, I recall), more remakes, etc. etc. SPOILER WARNING IN THIS POSTI'm not sure how you can follow on from the TV series. Either it's another alternate ending (i.e. ignoring the Third Impact of the film, and possibly the last 2 episodes of the series as well), or something really bizarre happens in the 3 years between the film and Anima. Interesting new Nerv logo. Looks a little like the Lance of Longinus sprouted a wing. And the "V" is missing. Oh, wait, I can just make out it says "Aer" instead. The horizontal bar of the "A" is extremely faint. Wonder what Aer is? Oh, hang on again, the "V" is below, and the image is back to half a leaf with no Lance/wing thing. It's hard to tell from such a small image. I prefer the original logo. If this series really is set after the film, then why bother with Evangelions? There aren't any more Angels to fight... Well, theoretically there could be, and they're just not mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls (perhaps they only foretell events up to Third Impact, and assume the world ends then, not counting on some psychotic teenager wanting to bring people back to life so they can feel pain). Oh, yeah, spoiler warning. I'll go put that above. From discussions I've briefly read on other forums, people are suggesting it's an alternate reality. Yet another one. I've only seen the series and film, and will watch Remake (the 3 films that retell the series that are currently being made) when I get the chance. I might watch this too. But, as Aradiel (and everyone else in the world) says, they're just doing this for money. It's so much easier to write new stories for old characters than to invent new characters as well. Why do you think there are so many comic book films and trilogies out nowadays? Although I'm still waiting for this one.

SPOILER
Well, from what I watched (and confirmed by some of what I read) the TV series and the film endings are mutually exclusive.
The film details what happens just before theird impact, which the series misses out.
In the series, Shinji decides to keep everyone as LCL, living in whatever fantasy they want, with oneness/enlgihtenment always their in the background.
In the film he decides that you cannot truly exist in oneness, you must be seperated from other people, be able to feel pain, in order to live. Existence without that is meaningless, so he decides for everyone to get their AT fields back.

Although I don't want to disagree with the reason why they are making all this stuff, it's a pretty unromantic point-of-view suggesting it is only for that reason alone. It's unromantic, but I can't will myself into romanticism. Perhaps when more information is available I'll be better able to look at the project as an artistic endeavour.

It's been a while since I've seen the series and film, so I've forgotten most of the details. I can't easily comment on interpretations.
However, I was convinced that the series and film form the same story, but different parts thereof. The series showed the inner workings of Shinji (presumably in Unit 01 in the huge AT cross), and from all the pain and suffering he saw in people he decided to end it all and bring everyone together. Although in the film I believe the line is something like, "I wish everyone would just die", which might suggest otherwise.
But then the trip in the film shows Shinji that while he is connected to everyone, it's just not real, and he can't stand it. Better to have pain and reality than exist in some fantasy world where nothing really matters.
Also, didn't Unit 01 drift off into space somewhere? I know the film was full of imagery, but I do remember seeing it drifting off past the Moon, all grey and lifeless.
As for resurrecting people, I think they can only resurrect people who had Rei watching over them as they died. Ritsuko and Misato both had a Rei there. Presumably Rei collects the souls of the dead. Perhaps even Kaworu (great character) can come back, since Rei was there.
Yui says that anyone who can imagine themselves will be able to return. In Shinji's case his return is understandable, because he was piloting Third Impact, but how Asuka got there is a puzzle. And how they got halfway up the beach unconscious is yet another question. As for Asuka's bandages, when she died she knew she had a broken eye and a split arm, and so she imagined those injuries when she revived. Although perhaps her body is fine, and she just imagined the bandages. She wasn't in pain when she came to, and I doubt she'd have imagined herself doused in painkillers.

I'm not allowed anything to do with that series anymore after I became freakishly obsessed with it when I was 12 and insulted these Americans that came to our school "Bible bashing"...
