now that we've seen a bit more of the series and the vast majority of the characters have been introduced, who is everyone's favourite? not an easy question... i do like every character that is in the series, but i have to be the predictable sap that i am and say that for cute-ness i simply adore kisa-chan (tohru and i have the same mindset there it seems) she is toooooo cute for words! tohru is probably my favourite in the series though; i know she's sappy most of the time (at least we're not talking belldandy levels here!), but when u see through that facade now and then, she comes across as a very vulnerable and lonely character at heart i feel, which really warms me to her.

ooh tough question, I think it's particurly difficult to name just one as they all exemplify different characteristics (appologies for my innability with names, I'm bound to fall back on what animal etc they are at some point) Tohru is amazing in the way she only ever seems to be concerned with those around her, to the brink of over-empathy, while deep inside she's so clearly alone and doesn't feel she deserves the love of those around her Yuki is qutwardly strong and responsible, though could come across as cold to those who don't know him well, but he also has a soft centre with his exterior being merely a shell to protect him from the memories of his troubled past Kyo Is much more outwardly aggressive but you've gotta love it when he starts yelling at everything Mamiji, whilst a tragic story I just can't help but find him annoying, he's the typical best friends annoying younger brother-gaah Shigure and the snake one (I know I know I'm appaling with names) are an excellent source of comic relief, though they don't come across as being quite so well rounded characters as the rest Kisa Chan, well she at the moment seems to be acting as a sort of transitional stage, between suffering and loneliness and recovering to get on with her life, Tohru loves her because she sees refflections of herself in her, the same way she's still trying to deal with the death of her mother I think that's most of the front runners (except mamiji of course) but I honestly can't find a way to pick between them

it's exceptionally difficult, as i love different characters for different reasons; like u say, Ayame and Shigure are so ubelievably humourous when they get together, that you can't help but love them, but u can't not love Kisa because of the obvious troubles she's going through. but there are the characters outside of the zodiac curse as well...what about hanajima who recently told us of her weakness for tohru? or uotani with her incredible respect for tohru's mother? it's definitely the series with the most likeable characters in my opinion. but kisa is just soooooooooooooooooo cute!

Hanajima. More intriguing than a legion of Ewoks.

- Kyo because whenever he gets angry you hear a cat screach, and I never tire of hearing it
- Shigure...gotta love him
- Ayame - ditto

I suppose almost innecitably you feel empathy for any character in which you see a reflection of yourself
that's what makes the characters in this series so real, there's something in almost all of them I can empathise with
even though some of them were at earlier points in my life I can still relate to these characters
Kyo was the angry teenager who could never quite express himself propperly
Tohru is the young naive child who just wants every-one to be happy
Yuki however is a little bit of a mystery, I'm still trying to figure him (her) out

not putting yuki down, but i think kyo is more interesting than yuki as far as his character goes, but that's cause i've seen the whole series. and here we go back to the whole rei / asuka debate

now that's an interesting debate, but in the interest of avoiding poorly marked spoilers might I suggest that should be a thread in its own right (think safe and responsible now people)

I also reckon that the fact I at first thought Yuki was a woman helped me greatly in empathising with his/her character, the gender role didn't get in the way (That's right I'm a woman trapped inside a mans body)
But seriously, why is He voiced by a She, I'm just not getting this

why shouldn't he be? it's made fairly obvious how effeminate yuki is as a character (in both looks and persona) so for him to be voiced by a woman captures that feminine aspect unique to him in the series.

Shigure - he is so funny but clever and nice at the same time. Hehe

The reason a man should not be voiced by a woman is beacause it confuses me
nothing more or less than that
Just like when I was working the rides at "Gullivers Kingdom" this summer, sometimes you get some-one who you can't quite decide is it a she or a he, and get cold shivers down your spine
BT3 (Back To The Topic) You gotta love Shigure for being such a seedy bloke on occasion (Oh I can't wait to be a dirty old man)

yeah that also confused me a little because there's often little difference in the way men and women are drawn in anime so it's even worse if they're voiced by a woman too
do the Japanese just preffer more effeminate looking men or am I reading too much into this?
