Okay guys, if you read the roleplay at all, you'll have the feeling that a new character is about to be introduced. Here's your chance to join in, if you like. Here's a short bio:
Tyro Tileran (a.k.a.
Typhoon)
Most people call him Typhoon, even the other main Rola. The only ones who don't are Dan, the Rola leader (not yet introduced) who called him Tyro, and an as yet unnamed trainee who calls him "Master".
Typhoon is a master of Water magic, and has some skills with Ice magic too. As may or may not be obvious, Water is strong against both Fire and Wind, which means Typhoon has the upper hand against two of the three current protagonists Claire and Fen.
He wouldn't immediately use this advantage, though. The first time the protagonists encounter Typhoon, he's uninterested in fighting them. This isn't because he's a pacifist; if he needs to he can be quite ruthless (but not to the point of sacrificing others carelessly); but because he sees no sense in fighting at the moment. Typhoon can see the bigger picture; he's here to help crack the big seal in the forest; and fighting the protagonists would just be a waste of energy. Afterwards is a different matter, though. He'd accept a fight when he's not busy with something else at the time.
He's the type that isn't really surprised by anything, and doesn't despair in any situation. He'll already be thinking of a way around or through it. He isn't easily provoked, either. He can readily ignore the readiness of the protagonists to fight. While he doesn't partner up with them, he's not hostile towards them at all - he recognises that they may be able to help him with his task (breaking the seal), and acts accordingly.
He's still a Rola, of course, and a firm member of and believer in the Rola group (thus he wouldn't decide to defect). He sees the Rola as a great group of people striving to better themselves and others, and that's his greatest ideal. He sees the Rola's actions not as good or bad, but as necessary. The needs of the many, and so forth.
Typhoon is quite intelligent, cool, composed and relaxed. He takes a back seat approach to life.
Think you've got what it takes? Then reply here saying you're interested, and we'll see where things go from there.
Please note that Typhoon is most likely going to end up being killed by one thing or another. His ideals won't allow him to suddenly defect to the good side, and he won't suddenly lose interest in the seal and such and leave to go live a quiet peaceful life somewhere else in the world. If you can't deal with this, then I'd suggest you don't apply (unless you've got an amazingly good reason why he'd stay alive and in the story).
You could always use this role as an opportunity to properly get into the roleplay, give yourself a bit of practise at conversing with us before introducing your own character (which you can do, provided it makes sense, of course - no lost master magicians stumbling upon the roleplay characters and defeating them all with a finger
).
It won't be a matter of first come, first served. If someone's already said they're interested, that doesn't mean they'll get the character. Feel free to reply yourself; you never know if you'll get the part if you don't try.
This character was created by me, and is somewhat more significant than various bit parts (such as the old woman Dana), so I thought it might be worthwhile letting someone else have the character, so they'd be able to join in and have fun with the rest (all both) of us. If no one's interested, I'll take the character.
Oh yes, and you must be able to post regularly, and stick with it. That's a big important point.
